Penny Simkin, PT, is a physical therapist who has specialized in childbirth education and labor support since 1968.

She estimates she has prepared over 14,000 women, couples, and siblings for childbirth. She is author or co-author of books for both parents and professionals, including “The Birth Partner: A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Doulas, and All Other Labor Companions”.

Penny and her husband, Peter, have four grown children and eight grandchildren from 11 to 28 years of age, two grandchildren-in-laws, and a pug, Lola.

Gerri Ryan, L.M., C.P.M., FACCE, Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery: Managed administrative staff of a large firm for several years before leaving the corporate arena to pursue her goal of becoming a midwife. She is a licensed and certified professional midwife, is certified as a doula and is a nationally recognized doula trainer. She has co-chaired several national health conferences and is the founder of San Diego Birth Network, the first non-profit birth network in the US. Currently teaches midwifery students, supervises academic faculty and clinical instructors and has primary responsibility for marketing, recruitment, and human resources management for Nizhoni Institute.

Bio: About Willow Buckley

Willow Buckley, is a certified classical homeopath, labor doula, and prenatal yoga teacher.

She first combined her holistic interests with her medical science studies while earning a Bachelor of Science in Neuropsychology from the University of California Santa Barbara.  

Continuing her search and passion for a whole healing approach, Willow ventured into homeopathy, where she has helped families and individuals of all ages handle everything from anxiety and depression to morning sickness and sore throats.

She is a fervent proponent of the body’s power to heal itself and infuses nutrition with real food into her practice.

She is also the co-author of the new book: How to Conceive Naturally: And Have a Healthy Pregnancy after 30.

Willow lives in Encinitas, CA, with her husband, Marcus, a writer and Montessori educator, and their children, Grayson and Emerson.

In this THIRD episode of "We're Having a Baby, Naturally!", Amanda & HR catch us up all that they've been doing since last time. Amanda is 37 weeks now and is due at the end of June. They share what they learned in some of the birth classes they've taken: Hypnobirthing, Breastfeeding 101 and Newborn Care. HR shares his perspective too on what these classes did for him as a soon-to-be father and as a husband that wants to support his wife as best he can in labor.
